My 9 week old likes to eat approx. 4oz every 2 1/2 hours ( I make up 5 oz bottles ) and some days it seems like she even wants a snack in between. I thought formula fed babies could go 3-4 hours between feedings.
I read that I should try to see if her crying is being caused by something other than hunger so I do the usual checking of the diaper, try to distract her with a toy etc....but at the end it's the bottle she wants. Is this normal????

Just because a baby *can* go 3-4 hours between feedings doesn't mean your baby can.

It could be a growth spurt, or you could just have a snacky baby.

Look at it this way: if she eats smaller amounts more often she is less likely to spit up, have an upset stomach, get gas, etc. She is also less likely to become obese as an adult. Does she take a pacifier or suck her thumb, it could just be an urge to suck I guess but she would most likely spit the bottle out and get mad if all she wanted was to suck. You could try distracting her by letting her suck on an empty bottle (though that may give her gass)

Honestly feed her as often and as much or as little as she desires, unless her weight becomes (and by that I mean that she is to heavy or light for her height, not her age. And have respect for the fact that some babies are skinny and some a chubby) and issue OR for some reason you really must have her on a schedule. It will be best for her and you.

Feed your baby as often as she wants to be fed. Babies are all different, and while some can go 3-4 hours, some eat smaller amounts and want more frequent feedings. The last thing you want to do is distract your baby from her hunger, this leads to bad eating habits in the future.

It's totally normal. My daughter did the same thing and still does she is 10 weeks old. Some days she will eat around the clock and then some days she will not eat very much. I talked to her doctor about it and he said it is completely normal. They are like us. Some days we will eat more than others. Hope that helps

Well..2.5 hours is not that far off from 3 hours. Chalk it up to her being a hungry baby!

She might be hitting a growth spurt, or just have a bigger appetite. Every baby is different.

If she takes the bottle she's hungry. You can ask at your next checkup too, but that's my expereince.
