If both computers are sharing the same network (router) -- I know this works on XP and 2000

On the old computer: put files to be copied to the "shared folder".

On the new computer: Open an explore window, go to "my network places and find the other computer. You should be able to drag the files to the new computer (to a folder or whereever you want it to go)

Use a clone program, such as Norton Ghost, or Alacris TrueCopy. Or, just use the clone program included with your new hard drive. Western Digital includes Data Lifeguard with their drives. Hook your new hard drive to the end of the IDE cable and set the jumper to master, your old drive to the middle of the cable and set the jumper to slave, fire it up with the clone cd and follow the instructions.
