If the United States government was able to guarantee that you would be protected from foreign terrorism and/or invasion in exchange for the ability to investigate you without probable cause, total control of the media, and limiting your freedoms to speak and express yourself, would you follow the plan? Would you give up your own rights in order to live or would you risk your life to keep your rights?

I would have to risk my own life just to be free. I would never cave into what the politians say that we should do this or that and the other just to be protected. I feel the polititians have enough hold on tax payers, we need our freedom to agree or disagree.... I would also start placing guns in my home if it came down to that point, just to protect my family as well as myself....

No. I will not voluntarily give up my rights. Look how many rights and freedoms we've lost because of people seeking protection from the vagaries of economies. Look how many rights and freedoms we've lost because of do-gooders protecting us from ourselves.

I'd rather chance my life with a terrorist than trust my freedom to a politician.

1. I don't feel the government could keep their end of that bargain.
2. Those rights are more valuable to me than any additional protection from the government.

So, no, I would not support that move.

You can take away my rights when you pry them out of my cold dead hands.

In honor of Pastor Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the 6th Amendment, but I hadn't been accused of a crime, so I didn't object to denial of counsel.

Then they came for the 4th Amendment, but I wasn't talking to anyone overseas, so they wouldn't be monitoring me.

Then they came for the rest of the 4th Amendment, but I only called my mother, so there was nothing suspicious in my phone records.

Then they came for the 1st Amendment, but I never associated with criminals, so I didn't worry about being convicted purely based on what other people might do.

Then they came for the 14th Amendment, but I never really understood the rules for Due Process (and wasn't allowed an attorney), so I didn't object.

Then they came for the rest of the 1st Amendment, but I never told anyone about what the government was doing, so again I remained silent.

Then they came for the 5th Amendment, ...... and I no longer had the right to remain silent.

NEVER! I would rather protect myself, the government can't do it anyway and my freedom (what little is left) is not for sale, for money or by bullying me!!!

I would rather have my rights and freedom. No one can guarantee your safety.

NO! Those willing to allow their rights to be diminished to ANY degree or abolished are, at best, fools and, at worst, traitors.
