Not sure on this. If, you mean the Water Drain Hose, I use a pipe slightly larger than what come out of the Washer so it slide into that pipe easy.
Now a Dryer, I vent with the same size as what the vent is on the back. If, this in your home that you buying you may want to use a sheet metal or PVC pipe as it will last. The vinyl flexible hose stuff may need replaced over the years.

I'm assuming you mean venting for the dryer because washers don't need to vent. The venting for a dryer must be 4" across no matter what state you are in. Those are the manufacture's requirements.

ummmm washing machines don't have vents.
