The reason the pay isn't high is that public toilets do not produce any revenue for the owners of the property. The people that clean them could make a higher wage if you would be ok with having to use a public toilet and be willing to pay, oh say $3.00 for the toilet and how about $1.75 to use the urinal. Nobody would ever use them and would thus, eliminate the need for the job and those people would then be out of work. The other thing is, base rate of pay for a job is usually dependant upon many factors, 2 of which are education required and personal risk involved. Cleaning toilets may be nasty but theres really very little real risk involved and theres no education requirement.

true.
i agree so much.....
but what can we do, government is so systematize that even the hardest work is paid for an uncepptable pay due to positions that partake the highest to lowest.
minimun wage to follow, they are into those ranges of pay coz they are not like senators or lawyers who had the pays worth for.
they are assigned there for a degree low for the standards of good pay.
although in society they are so useful, they are hardworkng and very much not fair to be paid for just a minimum salary.
i pity them too. without them i may have kidney stones, coz i will never urinate a dirty toilet.

Public toilets are mostly meant for poor and who cannot afford private toilets. Therefore they cannot afford to pay higher charges. For common toilets meant for affluent people, higher charges can be fixed, so that the poor who maintain them may be benefited.

This kind of work isn't really considered something you want to make a career, much less do you need too much experience to actually clean a bathroom. All it takes is a sponge, a few paper towels, a broom, dust pan, mop and bucket. And, if you're a clean freak, many pairs of latex gloves.

Well Katham it may not be a job requiring great skills but I feel they should be paid a high salary as it is an absolutely necessary job that few people want to do. Besides if this is not done the **** is really going to pile up, don't you think?
