Which of these two ethnic groups in America suffer more grief from prejudice and bigotry? The Italians have the stereotype of being selfish theives and corrupt mobsters, while the Poles get this reputations for being stupid drunks incapable of anything above manual factory labour.

Who suffered more in the past and who still suffers the most from these assumptions?

The Polish have suffered and still suffer the most. I am from a town with about 40% Polish, 40% Italian, 10% German, and the rest of us who were thought of as nothings. The Italians owned the businesses and controlled about 90% of the wealth (the Germans the other 10%), while the Polish were constantly made fun of and made up the majority of the blue collar workers and menial laborers.

I'm an Italian, and I've never had anyone accuse me of being a thief or a mobster. I'd have to say Poles because of all the "Pollock jokes"..
