What is the main reason for no mail on Sundays, and where can I get information on it?

Probably from years ago, when there were "blue laws", and many, or most businesses were closed. Later, employees with labor unions wanted a confirmed day off, so it's likey that this is a covered issue in many union contracts.

traditionally in the past very few businesses have been open sunday since most relgions say you arent suppose to work sunday. theyve always been closed sunday and have never changed. and the postal service is lazy

To give the mail man a break from delivering all of that junk mail.

Same reason there are no chick-fil-a sandwiches on Sundays..... the whole church and state thing.
