So you did well in school. School is much easier than real life, and I have to wonder how old you actually are. If you have been out of school less than 5 years, you don't really have much real life experience compared to your school experience. It takes some people a lot longer to figure out that school is artificially nurturing to the self-esteem. You read your assignment? GOOD student! You wrote the assigned research paper? GOOD student! In the real world, you won't get praised for doing what you are supposed to do, but the punishment will be swift if you don't. You have to do considerably more than required in order to get ahead in the real world, and there is much more competition. Hence, it is harder. But how much of a mess could you have gotten into? Just remember that it is rare to reach success with your first attempt and that no one remembers the failed attempts, only the final, successful one. So keep trying and/or practicing whatever you want to succeed in. That's your first priority. Now about the down and fallen part. Do you know what went wrong? My guess is that you may have taken too much for granted after being school head boy, and you didn't give anything your best effort. You may have been self-centered and insensitive. Now you are hurt. Now you know what it feels like to not be number 1. Most of the people in the world are not number 1, and they are real live people with real feelings, just like you. Start regarding your actions in a dispassionate method, to see how you appear to people who don't know you and don't really care about you. Try to act in a manner that will make others want to know you and be around you. When you buy a cup of coffee at a coffee shop, be courteous to the server, say please and thank you, and keep your patience if the server is busy and you have to wait. Imagine yourself in the place of every other person you encounter, and see if there is some simple thing you could do to make their life a little better, even if it is only a smile and friendly greeting. Smile a lot, even when you don't feel like it at first. Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) once said, "I reckon a man's about as happy as he makes up his mind to be". If you make up your mind to be happy, it will change your life. I wish you well, and I hope you will be able to figure out where things went wrong and how to turn them around.

well i know you wasn't born in 2006 or you'd be a genius, but life is not what school is like. school is much easier then real life, you have to learn from any mistakes you make and try to make better decisions from here on out, listen to your gut and your heart they will not lead you wrong if you REALLY listen to them. best of luck

You are not giving any reasons as to why you are feeling defeated so nobody can give you a worthwhile answer.
