Keep your options open, but don't close any doors. Let your current employer know that you need and are looking for something more challenging and personally rewarding and give them the opportunity to provide it, but at the same time, keep you options open...if your current employer does not offer you a better option they will recognize your talent and give you a good recommendation to the next potential employer.

as tough as it is to find jobs these days, my advice to you would be to find a new job first and then quit your present job
