The first day of your period is day 1 of your cycle. Most women ovulate about 14 days before the start of their period. So if you have a 28 day cycle then you would ovulate around day 14, if you have a 31 day cycle you would ovulate around day 17.

The first day of your period is the first day of your 28 day cycle. Most women begin to ovulate anywhere from day 12 to 16 of their cycle. If the first day of your period is Nov. 1 then sometime between the 12 and the 16th of the month you should be ovulating. If you want to get pregnant have sex during these dates. If you want to make sure you are ovulating buy an ovulation test from walgreens or CVS.
The last day of your period really has no meaning except that your periods usually last for so many days and you know what is normal for you. So if something weird happens and your period is shorter than normal or longer than normal go to the doctor.

The first day of your period is the start (Day 1) of your cycle. The last day of your period doesn't really have much significance in getting pregnant.
Women can ovulate at anytime. It is hard to give a date or a range. If your cycle is longer you typically ovulate later. If your cycle is shorter you ovulate sooner after your period.
A general rule is that most women have about 10-14 days between ovulation and the end of their cycle (luteal phase). So, you ovulate 10-14 days BEFORE you expect your next period. You should time intercourse 5 days before this time period and 1-2 days after to maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
I will second the recommendation of the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Every woman that wants to know what is going on with the body should read it.

umm. well the first day is the first day that you see bleeding....the last day is the last day you see blood...........Most women have periods that last 3 to 5 days. This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

Ok the first day of your period is obviously the first day you bleed. you count that as the first day of your cycle and the day before you start your next period is the last day of your cycle. Once you start your period again that is day 1. The average woman with a 28 day cycle would most likely ovulate around day 14..but i have a 34 day cycle so I ovulate around day 20. Make sense?

Lets say your period starts on the 1st and ends on the 5th. You would start from the first day of your last period which would be the 1st. The last day of your first period would be the 5th.

The last day of your period is the end of monthly bleeding. The first day of your period is the day monthly bleeding begins.
