I personally didn't have any tests done. My husband (we weren't married yet) decided that no matter what we would have our child. I would never be able to have another child in the future knowing that I killed one of my own already.
Anyway...I wouldn't recomend that you get an amnio. The test are not 100% positive and they cannot give you a YES or NO answer as to wether or not your child will have downs. It's a percentage like 30% yes it will have downs and 70% no it won't. The other thing is I know someone personally who had the amnio done and it killed her baby. What happens is that when they do the amnio they puncture the sac that holds the baby. Usually that whoe mends itself, but in her case it didn't and she had a slow leak and the baby suffocated to death unknowingly. A lot of time women just go into labor because the water breaks but the baby is too hard to survive.
No matter how your child is born...he or she will be perfect to you and your boyfriend and you will love it no differently from any other child that you may have.
Also not to mention, downs is only a concern for those over 30 you should be fine especially if there is no history.
It's a test, NOT 100% right!
Best of luck honey

yes you do There could be several reasons for that the amnio test can give you an accurate accurate due date and determine the sex of your baby. i had a positive AFP blood test I went in to do an amnio test and It was nothing You don't feel anything don't listen to thoes that didn't take any test to see that there baby was okay, they didn't care too much to know. I just hope that you do. The tests that the doctor want you to take is very important and sont for get that. and when you do the amniothe doctor explains every thing. and by the way my son is normal. No DS detected because I did the test early.

You don't have to have one done if you don't want to. It is your baby and your body. There is a slight chance of a miscarriage after an amino, and none of the tests are 100% positive. It is your decision. Just know that if one test came out positive, there is a chance, and you should be prepared. I am pregnant with my third child, and I refused to have any of the tests done to look for DS, because it doesn't matter to me, he will still be my little boy.

If they want to do the amnio because your test showed a higher possibility of Downs this test is entirley up to you. You need to ask yourself how important it is for you to know that your baby has Downs. Would you have an abortion if he/she did? THere are a lot of risks with amnio including miscarriage. Discuss the benefits and dangers with your doc and partner, but it is up to you and if you don't feel comfortable dont do it.

Just because of your age and family history doesn't mean there can't be anything wrong. I would get it checked because it's better to know and make the appropriate adjustments to the baby's things and health care questions now. I was 19 when I was pregnant, and I would have had it done if needed. Good Luck!

You don't have to have an amnio done. It is your choice. There is a very slight chance of miscarriage with the procedure. If you want to know if your baby is healthy or if there are problems that need to be addressed right at birth (it helps so that you will be at the right facility that can handle problems). Remember, it is your choice!!

i be attentive to precisely the way you're feeling. I did have this attempt, for downs and spina bifida. i became into neg for spina bifida yet extreme probability for downs, actually merely outdoors of what they could classification as "commonly used". I had the amnio. I won't lie and allow you be attentive to that's agreeable, and it is your individual difficulty with regard to the technique that feeds this. They test you collectively as they do this, so the toddler is risk-free from the needle. despite the fact that, in case you verify with your hospital, you will probable locate that there is something like a one million/500 value of miscarriage, and human beings who do, could maximum possibly have lost the toddler besides. you'll be able to desire to relax afterwards, they don't propose entire bedrest, yet they do propose you bypass residing house and sleep or relax in the present day after. I felt the comparable approximately not being able to terminate a toddler the two, yet then, as my toddler does not have Downs, i don't be attentive to what i could have desperate if it became into. additionally, it may help me to verify up and prepare for existence looking after a downs newborn, if I did save on with the being pregnant. I wish you the acceptable of success in regardless of you verify.

Ask yourself what would you do with the results of the test. Would you do anything differently reguarding the pregnancy or the birth? Ask your doctor what he would do with the test results if you were to have the test. Weigh the potential value of the results with the slight chance of miscarriage that comes with this test.

I would say if it's a big deal to you whether or not your baby has Down Syndrome then get it...otherwise...why bother? It've heard it's painful and you run the risk of having a miscarriage. I never got one because it doesn't matter to me if my baby has DS or not...
