Ive been at uni for a year and a bit and last year my course was rubbish- its tedius and really a waste of money- i only stayed for friends and the student life and i ended up failing some of my modules so im retaking some this year on top of 2nd year work. To be honest i have talked to my parents about quitting and about getting a job back home- which basically i think i should of done anyway. They said it was disappointing but if i wasnt happy then i should do what i want to do, which is good. I work in a shop and could go full time there until i get a better paid job, i like it there and im much happier at home.I have very good A levels with coming one of the highest in the uk in one of my subjects so there isnt a problem with cv's etc.I just feel so guilty about the time and money ive wasted, but im unhappy so i think thats the better option.

Also.. its not that the work is too hard- i study art- i really enjoy art but my course does not show this- the work is all based on small minded things- its restrictive and not creative and to be honest i sometimes cannot be bothered to even do it because i dont get any enjoyment out of it...

You are wasting your time, and the time is later than you think.

Sounds like you might have already made the decision. I dropped out of uni at almost exactly the same time (18 months into it). That was a few years ago. I worked full-time for about six months and then went travelling for a couple of years. I've now started a new degree and I'm very happy. It gave me the chance to figure out what I was really interested in doing. You can always go back to uni if you want to.
Don't worry about disappointing anyone. It might sound selfish but it is your life and it is better to do it now than get even more unhappy, get to your final year and then either fail or quit.
Just make sure you have something to do with your time before you do leave uni. Get a job and make sure you fill your days doing something. Don't just sit around.
Good luck!

You should do what is best for you i was at uni last year doing my nursing degree and due to family problems i gave it up it was a really hard decision to make and i feel i rushed into making it i do now regret it and wish i had stayed and worked round my problems as i had the university's support but you seem to know what you want to do so go for it and dont stay there when you are so unhappy you could always reapply again in the future if you feel this was the wrong thing to do
good luck xx

well with A levels your cv is ok but there will be a lot more competition for better jobs from people who have done degrees so for that purpose I would say stay. Also you have wasted money, its not cheap I know, however all that said you have to do what you want in life, so do what makes you happy.

Can you change course and go closer to home so that you've not wasted your time so far. Look into Higher Ed colleges - you sound bright and articulate - just bored. Or take a gap year and consider what YOU want. I'm sure you could transfer a couple of courses. Have you talked to your course advisor - maybe he/she has ideas options. Whatever you choose best of luck.

I dropped out of my university in my 2nd year, went home, got a crap job and had to live with my parents. I decided to attend a small technical college, got a 2-year degree, got a decent job, laid off, and still had to live with my parents. Went back to same university, graduated with my bachelor's degree, got a crap job, and still have to live with my parents. I'm applying for jobs like crazy, but even with 2 degrees, the job prospects suck, at least where I am. Do what you have to do, I certainly didn't do the 4 years in, graduate, and land dream job approach. Just remember, decent job prospects are better for college grads, but I'm one, and I can't seem to make ends meet. I don't know how it is over in the UK, I'm in the US, so I'm not sure... Good luck to you.

to be honest i would stick at it..the time goes so quickly and once you are qualified you will be so happy to get a job with real money not just a fiver or so an hour..you will be unhappy doing that sort of work for the rest of your life!!i am so happy i carried on with my studies..i wanted to quit a number of times but mum persuaded me to stay on and im so glad she did!!its worth it..time flies x

Stay at it, time passes by very quickly once you have put all your efforts into your work. This opportunity will probably never come your way again.
