In some books, a baby gettting the hiccups more than twice a day can be a sign of distress, but it is rare. My daughter hiccuped constantly too, and I went to the doctor. She told me the same that thing that it could possibly be a sign of distress and she was glad I go it checked. I just sat with the monitors on me for about an hour or so and they did an ultrasound to check her out. All was fine! But I would check with the doctor, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck!

Oh, I remember when I was pregnant with my son and he would get the hiccups in the middle of the night! It's normal, frustrating, but normal.

Your baby sounds perfectly normal. My third child couldn't even get over hiccupping after she was born! It can be sometimes annoying, especially when you are trying to sleep. Congrats!

I'm sure it's fine, but if you're concerned, call the dr. Just a quick call to the nurse will ease your mind. Annoying when they have the hiccups, isn't it?!?! My first had them all the time. UGH! It drove me nuts after a while!
Congrats on #3...I'm 14 weeks pg with my 3rd. :)

It is perfectly normal, babies in the womb can hiccough, sneeze, wee, poo and little boys even get erections.
It's all good and healthy stuff, hiccoughs are simply the diaphragmn (muscle under the lungs) going into brief but none serious spasm.

This is totally normal and a good thing it means your baby is doing the practice breathing for lung development.
