Well, more like basslines. What about chords? I don't want to be stuck with just playing root notes on the bass guitar. I really want to make some basslines that make sense musically and sound great but I don't know what to do.

I've never played actual bass guitar but I use root, 3rd, 5th, or 7th a lot when I play base line (left hand) on piano / keyboard:

When you get better at this, it's time to learn when to throw in 9th, diminished, sustain, etc.

Root & 5th...

Root minor 3rd, 5th, minor 7th...

Just play a lot and repeat what you hear that you like.

I - IV -V chords...
