i guess people have their Opinions to wat they believe their music is rock or emo its bout wat they are singing we should not label them because of the lyrics they sing, so thanks for all ur comments u all opened my eyes

MCR is emo, they have a few songs that makes me say, hmm they are border lining rock... but My Black Parade, Helena, and many more are what makes MCR emo, nothing wrong with that though. Good is good, emo or not.

You defining them as rock seems to mean you are listening to how their music is played. They definitely have some emo-esque lyrics...but I would classify them as more of the goth rock type. Everyone's always going to label a band a different way...my favorite band was recently called emo by someone. But I didn't care, because now everyone classifies every band as emo. Just because they can. Everyone's going to have some emotional lyrics. That doesn't necessarily define them as emo.

They're not emo. They're classed as emo because the occasionally write a song that depresses the "emo" sort. Also, some of the band members have, or still look slightly emo.
Who cares though? If you were a true fan, you would ignore all the crap going on, and just like them for who they are.
They're my favourite band, and I just stick the middle finger up to anyone who disrespects me for that.

because of the media. theyre abusing the word emo, and turning in into something it never was, and most people dont know what emo actually is, so they just go along with what everyone else says
mcr is not emo though, theyre pop-punk
emotional lyrics is not what makes up emo

Beats the f*ck out of me! I thought emo meant emotional. Maybe I'm old or something. Am I wrong? And wtf is wrong with emo?
I want to know who has the job of classifying these artists and bands into certain genres. They are loved or hated depending on that labeling.
Personally you can classify MCR as hillbilly trailer trash and I will still listen and love the music.

emo is a subgenre of rock. emo is also very hard to classify, because everybody who plays emo music denies that their music is "emo." in reality, there is nothing wrong with emo music.
yes. MCR is emo. it is MODERN emo, it's part of the re-invention of emo music.

They in no way have been "Emo". They accompanied their own sound, with out hectic approximately kind. in the early days, the used to excursion with "Christian steel" bands (lol), because of the fact no person else could take them. Emo could be like Rites of Spring, Texas is the reason and Sunny Day actual assets.
