There are two criticisms I can make about the role of women in Snow White:
1.) Their emphisis on beauty as the female ideal. The queen doesn't care if anyone is more powerful than her, or smarter, or a more competent ruler, only if there is someone "fairer than she."
2.) Their total reliance on males. Snow White cooked and cleaned for the dwarves, presumably so they would protect her -- which they failed to do. She ultimately succumbed to the queen, and it took a male (the prince) to save her and set things right.
This is not to take anything away from the story, which predates the Disney movie. These views of women merely reflect the thinking at the time the story was originally conceived.

Ah, political correctness strikes again. I'm sure there actually is dialog about this somewhere. There may even be groups that are demanding that Disney completely alter the story or suffer litigation. Indeed, the title may be changed from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" to something like "Albino Female of Equal Status and the Seven Vertically Challenged Persons".
The good news is that we'll all die one day and not have to put up with PC crap anymore.

It's a fairy tale. If you notice the trend in fairytales goes as thus:
1. The hardworker is always rewarded. The hardworking girl always gets the prince and the hardworking guy always gets the girl.
2. There is always an evil stepmother and stepsisters. Heaven forbid you remarry in these stories. Your kid is doomed.
3. Vainity is a sin. Notice, any girl who cares about her looks is always the evil kid who will be lazy and gets it in the end.
4. A guy can be lazy, but not a girl. The lazy, lovable guy gets the girl as often as his hardworking counterpart. Apparently, the fairytale is more fair to guys then it is too girls.
5. The lazy vain daughter will also be rude.
It's in all fairy tales. Snow WHite shows that by hard work you willbe rewarded. AFter all, that poor girl slaved away for the dwarves and after nearly dying she gets the prince.

Thats the problem with hollywood. I do not see Snow White or any of the dwarfs as rolemodels. I simply watch the movie and take it as it is. Why be a critic of a movie? Movies, as well as any art forms are reflections of ourselves. Do not critize them, enact change if you do not like the reflection.
