Why do companies often fire employees who make valid complaints against other employees or things?

I hear about this alot and experienced it first hand. If you have a legitament complain regarding something. Even if that thing is very neglagent. The company fires the person making the complaint or does completlely nothing about it.

most companies don't want anyone to rock the boat. if you rock the boat--even if you're right--you're not a team player. most companies are protecting their own. it's all a buddy system. if you say something against someone who is in the buddy system, you will likely be the one told to keep it to yourself or leave.

It's possible that they view the "tattler" as a troublemaker.
