I left my headphones in a backpack with sausages for several days (I forgot I had food in there). When I opened my bag there was a horrible smell because obviously the sausages went bad.

Now the smell has seeped into my headphones and makes me want to gag. How can I get rid of the smell from my headphones and backpack?

ok febreeze is good but its not what u need . put the backpack in the washer, it will clean and backpack will be fine. ( unless its leather) for the headphones, im assumin the smell is in the foam around the ear pieces, most are detachable, if possible pull them off the ear pieces and soak them in soap and water, ( dont rub or they will tear) just soak, and rinse well. this is the best way and not the lazy "febreeze" way , plus febreeze isnt soap, its like air freshener, works a while but soon fades away. the febreeze "coverup" wont last forever and one day ull be smellin sausage all over again.

put something good smelling in your backpack with the head phones and leave it for several days

or through them both out because of all the bacteria left from the sausages

Use FEBREEZE (it's spelled that way, not Fabreeze heh) and put them in a drawer or a box, something enclosed and throw a few scented fabric softener dryer sheets in there, and maybe some potporri or incence sticks. Spray each day with Febreeze until the smell dies down. Or maybe even put them with a odor-eater shoe insert!

Use Fabreez! i swear it will work. I used that on all kinds of foule smelling things. a chocolate milk broke open in my book bag and sat in my car in 90 degree weather and that was awefull. but Fabreez did the trick. you can buy it almost anywhere they sell cleaning products. a small bottle is only like $3.50.
GOOD LUCK!

they are hard to clean and some of them you can't really,...but try airing them out, say for about 1 wk..try a lite spray of Febreeze or putting in a bag, closed air tight with baking soda for a week.
