I have a house cleaning business and I charge by the square foot. I have deep cleans which are done initially to get the house ready for a general clean. I charge 9 cents a square foot for a deep clean and 5 cents a square foot for a general.

A general can be done weekly, bi weekly or monthly. Alot of people who clean houses charge by the hour but you cannot make any real money that way. Never tell the customer how you charge just say I charge by the job which is true. I have been doing this for a while and if you break it down I make between $25-35 an hour sometimes more.

Also a great thing to get into is office cleaning, it is much easier and you can make more money because even though you still charge by the sq foot you can clean an office quicker than a house.

Another thing I want to mention is people will call you for a move out clean you can charge 12 cents a sq foot for that because a move out clean consists of inside the appliances and cabinets and stuff. You don't have to do move outs just wanted to throw that in.

You have to be legit with a license and a company name though for people to pay that kind of money and you really have to know how to clean people are really picky. I hope this helps Good Luck!

$5-$15 an hour. More if they will pay it. A plumber charges $85 an hour to come in and mess your house up.
I use to figure Cleanup by Area.
A 100sq ft area is $X
A 1000sq ft area is $XX

Call around to people that do this and get qoutes for your own house, divide the square footage into the price so you will be able to charge other people correctly.

Definitely meet them in public first. 20.00 and hour sounds reasonable. But consider, you have got to pay for transportation and merchandise. And I am now not definite, however I believe the ones may also be tax write offs.Check along with your state legislation to peer if there are any legal responsibility problems. One thing more, are you hiring?

Hello, since you are interested in starting your own business and have to contact people for quotes, I have a business that is much easier to do than that one and is still a home-based business. You may find this one easier to do so if interested in finding out more about it, please email me to rpelley5@yahoo.com. Thank you.
