I have left Project Management positions and consulting positions - in addition to leaving High School jobs at Dry Cleaners and a bakery.

I have left at all ages - teens, 20's, 30's. For a variety of reasons - from money to companies who were behaving unethically.

The best advice I can give is think hard and go with your gut, and do NOT burn bridges by saying what you want to in anger. you'd be surprised who can end up on the other side of the interview desk years down the road. It is nice when you can pick up happily where you left off instead of slinking out of the chair and the building...

Good luck!

Fast food, 18, the job was fine, I was hired full time then scheduled full time only after two or four hours, once the rush was past I was sent home....so I quit and attempted Cell phone sales at the beginning of the cell industry......nobody reacted to anything. That was the first job I quit, certainly not the last....there was one, I think I was 25, I ran a construction office...it got to the point where the owner was worried about money so he cut my hours back to two days per week....then he called me constantly asking how to do this, how to do that etc.....my ex told me I could quit...then when the boss started talking trash about key employees I realized he likely did that with everyone...it made me sick so I quit. Everyone but him thought it was a great idea. I think when you are respected in a position you should give that employer respect and give notice etc...but when they treat you like crap, you owe them nothing. I have also attempted to quit a job and wasn't allowed too.......instead I bought the company! Now if it would just make money!!

You are asking alot of questions, are you planning on leaving your job? If so make sure you have an income before you make the final step. I quit when I was in my 40's to start my own business. It was a decision I made by my selfe and it worked out realy well for several years. I hope I have given you some insight. Good luck

last year I was admin support for a small family run property management company. I liked some of the tenants but there were a lot who were a constant pain in the butt, complainers, able bodied/healthy and on assistance(sponging off the system as a given right) and expected everything to be given to them,
there was no room for growth as it was a family business and unless you wre in th family there was no where to go,
the pay was crap, the guy running it was a cheap skate, the other girl in the office was a total b**tch and a back stabber when she wanted to pass the blame, had to do a lot of CMA ( cover my *ss)
Some of the tenants that I got to know were sad to see me go, my family and friends were happy for me, I was estatic and happy to go, I hated getting up in the mornings and actually going to work,
should have done it sooner, hung in too long, a year there was 6 months too much, leave if you're not ahppy, it just makes getting p in the morning even harder, stressing yourself out will only make you sick and the employer rich, you're making them money not really the other way around.
