Printer not working, scanner & copier ok,light flashing on and off. When I try to print a message comes up on computer screen. No communication with printer. any suggestions on how to fix please

I have a lexmark 2300 with the same thing going on.I know so little about computers but I had to make sure the usb port was on.also had trouble with usb cord.had to unplug it and plug it back in.Works now.I hope this helps.
Oh yea mt ink only lasted 4 days I bought a refill & it lasted 6 days.I'll never buy a lexmark again.They cost to much to keep up.good luck with your's

Disconnect mains and USB lead from printer, wait a minute, plug in mains then USB lead.
This resolved similar problem with my Lexmark all-in one.
It should have these details on their software and their website.

unplug all leads from ports and mains, if you still have the software disk remove it then reinstall it
