I will be traveling to South Africa soon, I wanted to know if the incoming calls are charged in any cellular provider (i.e. MTN, Vodacom, Cell C) in South Africa, especially incoming international calls (from India).

No incoming calls in South Africa cost you anything.

No, they don't charge for incoming calls. Virgin Mobile of Richard Brandson has also arrived in SA, but you'll apply for pre-paid... Hmm.. I'd say Vodacom is the best for you - they have by far the cheapest SMS rate and their customer support is good.

INCOMING (LOCAL OR INTERNATIONAL) CALLS ARE NOT CHARGED AT ALL IN SOUTH AFRICA. YOU CAN BUY YOUR SIM CARD PARK AT ANY OUTLETS BUT REMEMBER AT THE AIRPORT IS EXPENSIVE FROM R20-R100. YOU CAN BUY ONE AT PICK N PAY OR SHOPRITTE STORES FOR AS LITTLE AS R2.
I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GO FOR VODACOM, APART FROM BEING THE LARGEST NETWORK IN THE COUNTRY IT HAS MANY FREE VALUE ADDED SERVICES INCLUDING FREE LOCAL SMS/MMS FROM THEIR WEBSITE AND SUCH AS FREE ACTIVATION OF GPRS,MMS SETTINGS AND COVERAGE IS EXCELLENT NOT TO MENTION THEIR CUSTOMERS CARE.WITH VODACOM YOU CAN ALSO ACTIVATE FOR FREE PREPAID INTERNATIONAL ROAMING(SELECTED COUNTRIES ONLY),CELL C IS CHEAPER ON LOCAL CALLS AND LOCAL SMS BUT SOMETIMES NETWORK HAS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE DRIVING WITH BASIC VALUE ADDED SERVICES.MTN HAS HIDDEN CHARGES TECHNICALLY AND THERE'S NOTHING FOR FREE-
THERE'S SPECIAL ON VODACOM FOR R800 - YOU GET FREE PHONE AND RECEIVE CERTAIN FREE MINUTES EVERY MONTH (12 MONTHS) PLUS YOU WILL BE QUALIFY FOR CONTRACT TARIFFS WHICH IS 40% CHEAPER COMPARE TO PREPAID TARRIF - I HOPE MY ANSWER WILL GUIDE YOU OTHERWISE VISIT WWW.VODACOM4ME.CO.ZA
