I think that is the way you would want to go, the charity gets a complete computer and you have a high level of security.



The only sure way to protect your data is to take out the drive.
almost all files after a normal format can be recovered with minimal effort.

Dowload a program called Dariks Boot and Nuke (available as freeware) copy the prog to a bootable disk and run it. This program overwrites the entire hard drive up to 35 times making data recovery impossible. Even with specialist equiptment.
Just do a search for the program you should get plenty of hits.

format the hard drive, or if it is EXTREMELY sensitive information , take the hard drive out
