Because we can win, but need support. Instead people just complain but do nothing! Give supportive suggestions, and no pulling out is not an option. I want a stable Iraq that is an ally to those who fight for justice in the world. Those people over there have every right to freedom that we do as Americans. What if the French had not helped us? How often we forget that doing nothing only lets evil win.

Which Republicans? Even if they thought that saying so might keep many voters home and would affect the local races. State houses matter also.

In hopes of energizing their support base. Would you attend a football game when your team's coach says "we'll lose this one, but hopefully we will keep it respectable!" That type of defeatist attitude never motivates support. Instead, you behave and talk like winners, even in the face of adversity, and then be graceful in defeat, should it happen.

Because the only way they had a chance of winning was for people to believe that they could. If people didn't, no one would have voted for them, dooming them.

Same reason Democrates would, they actually believe in themselves. It's like asking a football player why he thought he was going to the superbowl. Why do democrates insist on being disrespectful?
