The rays that cause tanning do get through but at a much lower rate than in open air. My husband (a coach driver) has a permanent tan deeper on his right arms and side of face! He has been advised to use the highest factor sun blockers to avoid skin cancer and as already had two suspicious moles removed.
Never understood why us whites who are predudiced against asians, then spend money to look the same colour!
I'm not predudiced just avoid tanning cos I'm scared of Cancer!

Yes, it's not only possible to get tanned through most glass, but also to get sunburned through glass. A close friend of my got skin cancer from his sun exposure through his windshield in the mornings and evenings while driving to and from work. Wear sunscreen.

yes. i assume you mean like thru a window or something? most car windows are now treated with uv filters but just regular glass does not block out uv rays. like, if you ride in an older car with the sun shining on you for a long time, you'll notice a tan line.

No it s impossible. The suns rays need to come into direct contact with your skin for you to develop a tan.
