The Big Ten may be the home of Ohio State and Michigan, but the conference as a whole is nothing but below average teams. Unlike the SEC of even Big East, only a couple teams actually have a chance at winning. The SEC continually produces quality teams. OSU has net played a decent team within their conference, while a team like Arkansas had to beat Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and Bama. Now which is more impressive, one bad Arkansas game, but beating many quality teams, or OSU beating 1 quality team (texas) and then winning against the ever challenging North Western, and Bowling Green.

The SEC is the best and toughest conference to play in. The problem with the Sec is that the teams keep knocking each other out. Michigan is a joke...Ohio state is a joke...and I don't think that Ohio State will win the National Championship this year. Arkansas is on a roll and I believe they will win out after I watched them play against Tennessee. There is no way these Big East and Big Ten schools can go undefeated in the SEC year in and year out.

Michigan and Ohio State would be running through an SEC schedule this year. I can't see any team in the SEC playing with Ohio State and keeping it within a touchdown.

The conferences go in cycles. Iowa and Wisconsin have been good recently.

Still if you look at objectively the big 10 has three very good teams Michigan, OSU and Wis.

The SEC has 3 really good teams this year Florida, LSU and Arkansas. That is it. Auburn, Georgia and Tenn were all way overrated.

The Big East maybe has 3 teams that are good Louis, WVU and Rutgers but no one knows if they are any good because they play no one out of conference.

The Big 12 has 3 good teams Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska

The Pac-10 has USC, Cal and Oregon

If you ask me all the conferences look about the same. The SEC is not that much more than anyother conference but they seem to think they are. It is funny that the facts don't matter because in the BCS SEC has had average results.

The only reason that there are dominant teams in the big ten is because of the lack of competition, Just because a team is undefeated doesn't mean it's really the best because look at Florida, they had to play 4 quality teams in a row and came out 3-4, in the Big ten they get a break between quality games. They should have won that Auburn game though, it wasn't a fumble, so i think that the Big Ten wouldn't stand a chance in the National Title if the pollsters get over USC and let either Arkansas or Florida in. People complain about how the SEC doesn't play anyone outside their conference, well why should they, and Lousiville was complaining too, well Louisville sucked when they scheduled games for this year, two years ago they would've gotten complaints for playing a crappy team.

SEC HANDS DOWN

UHhh try this the SEC is a bunch of overated teams. Teams like Florida struggle to beat Arkansas and there isnt just one dominat team. They are all a bunch of mediocre teams. Unlike the Big 10 who has two dominant teams in OSU and Michigan. No one in college footbal even compares to them. And then you have #9 Wisconsin with there only loss coming to Michigan. Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin could beat any team you throw at them from the SEC or Big East. So the Big Ten is probably the strongest confrence in college football this year. How dare you even say the Big East is good. Talk about a weak scheduele look at Rutgers, Louisville's, and West Virginia's out of confrence schedule. Big East is what you would call the BIG JOKE!

Some of the answers given would make it appear that a valid point had not been raised. Ohio State and Michigan are quality teams, but the rest of the Big 10, or Big 11 if you prefer, would not strike fear in a middling SEC team like Auburn. Don't take it personally OSU or Michigan fans, but facts are facts.

I totally agree Everyone talks strength of schedule and there is only a couple teams there the big east has 5 good teams 3 are ranked and 2 in top 10 but I guess it is favortism. it needs to be replaced with better system to give the other teams a chance , like rutgers beat #3 team and are undefeated and ranked at #7 .

Unfortunately, OSU/MICH cannot control the strength of the rest of the Big 10. However, give them credit for scheduling tough non-conference games. Ohio State has scheduled home&homes with Texas, USC, Miami (FL), and VA Tech in the upcoming years.
They also have BEATEN all of those below average teams. Look at who other top teams have lost to in recent years, and you will find many unranked teams.

I think that the SEC is the toughest conference to play in year in and year out.

But, conference strength is cyclical. in a few years, the Big 12 will be tough when all these freshman QBs get better...and the same thing can be said about the Big 10. Michigan State will be better, as will Iowa.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! The Big Ten will bring home the Championship. Because there is NOBODY who can compete with our two top teams. It isn't the rest of the Big Ten's fault that they can't compete with these two powerhouses. No one else can, regardless of conference.
