Best player on the male tour? Without a doubt, it's Roger Federer. The women's tour is a bit different. Whereas Federer as an all around game, the top women have strenghts in different areas. The best technical player is Martina Hingis. The best power player is a tie between Maria Sharapova and Amelie Mauresmo. Finally, the best defensive player is Justine Henin-Hardenne. But, if I had to pick one player that has a close to all around game, it would be Kim Clistjers. She is, an amazing player with amazing abilities!

Men's circuit: I don't like him because he is boring but Federer is obvious the best at the moment.
Women's: not sure there is a best: Mauresmo, Sharapova, Henin-Ardenne, Clijsters. All fantastic on their day but not consistent to stay at the top all the time
My favourite player of all time is Goran Ivanisevic for his passion, his heart, his determination and his wild-eyed, on-court meltdowns.

Obviously Roger Federer, with the ladies it's a bit more difficult to simply choose someone... I believe Justine Henin-Hardenne is the most consistent, and Kim Clijsters the one with the most talent... (Oh, and I promise I'm not from Belgium!)

I will go with Roger federer and Henin. Roger is consistent, agile and classic tennis player. He is apt in all the facets of the game: serving, volleying, drop shot, lob, cross court, left hand shots, can play at the baseline and can play at the net. Perfect!
Henin is a very grity player with a lot of determination and effort. She means business and keeps a low profile. Like federer, she is also good in all the facets of the game.
With respect to all time great, I find several players who excelled: Rod Laver of Australia, Martina Navratilova (Grand slam champion at the age of 49, remarkable) and B Borg. If I have to choose one, I would go with Navratilova.
