A lot of people I've heard have been saying that homosexuals should not be allowed to raise children because they will influence the children to be homosexual. How do you explain then, the fact that most homosexuals come from straight families? Should straight couples not be allowed to raise children because there's a possibility that the children might be gay?

Homosexuals raising kids is not how God planed it. Also in reference to someone elses answer that sexuality is a gift from God... NORMAL sexuality is a gift form God. BUT God does not give sodomy as a gift to no one. God hates sodomy. He loves the ppl that fall into the devils trap of homosexuality, but he hates the sin. THAT being said. I think that children need a Father (Male father) and Mother (Female Mother). I don't much care about the statistics, but a child raised with homosexuals will have no morals, in a homosexual home, what are morals?? I think that if a child gows up thinking that its a normal way of life.. chances are thats the way they will choose as well.

It s called freedom of choice. You choose to do what you want and I'll choose mine. I cannot say that gays raising children will make them gay, it is just those parents will put or show more influence on this lifestyle. This is, what the child will see in action. Same as the way we think, alot of it was learned from the way we were raised. The child may or may not turn gay.

I think that is mostly homophobes talking. I have three cousins that were raised in a homosexual home and they came out straight and better than most people coming out of straight homes! They are definately more stable and more confident in who they are that's for sure.

I don't think the agrument that being raised by gay adults will make a child gay is supported by any evidence.
I believe, however, that all things being equal, a child is best raised by his or her biological mother and father (or an adoptive mother and father) IS supported by studies.
A child could be raised in many households. Society tries to provide the best one.

Good point. No conclusive proof has been found to support the claim that same sex parents result in homosexual children. Environment has to influence the child to a degree, but not to the point of creating a gay child. Makes me roll my eyes when I read a question regarding "choosing to be homosexual"....

That is a complete lie. There are lots of perfectly "functioning" people that had homosexual parents. What bothers me the most is that people are close-minded enough to believe this crap. I have a very good friend that has homosexual parents, and he is a very happy, healthy heterosexual man. Homosexuality has nothing to do with genes or influence. You either like a particular sex, or you don't! Whatever you have become attracted to over your lifetime is your own personal choice.

Sexuality is a gift from God, he determines what flavor of sexuality a person (or animal) will have. It has nothing to do with the gifts God gave to others in the family.
That said, many people in our society are under a great deal of pressure to conform, so some Gays act Hetero even if that isn't really them. Gay parents are more likely to let the children be who they really are than some uptight Heteros would.

It can't. Just like blond people raising kids will not make them blond.
There is no scientific evidence, over many decades, that the sexual orientation of the parents have anything to do with the sexual orientation of the kids. Anyone who thinks otherwise should ask how straight parents can have gay kids....
It's just another example of bigotry and scare tactics, and to provide an excuse to discriminate against potential parents.

It is a matter of percentages here.
Kids raised by homosexuals have a higher percentage of becoming gay than kids raised by heterosexuals.

The funny thing is, there's plenty of gays who are raising kids. Some are from previous (heterosexual, obviously) relationships, some are adoptions... and the kids are no more likely to have psychological problems or to be gay than anyone else.
