for me, Stockton is the better passer and is, as a matter of fact the best passer of all time.
it is a rarity for a guy like magic standing 6-8 and possessing such incredible dribbling and passing skills. that is why he enjoyed a very big advantage because he was tall and strong enough to see the court over his much smaller opponents.
Stockton, on the other hand, had to do with his physical shortcomings as a point guard and used other means like speed, quickness and court vision to offset his disadvantage. he did so well that even at the prime of their careers, Stockton had a better assists/game average than magic and eventually became the all-time assist leader in the history in the NBA...

Its hard to say...Stockton holds that assist record that he took from Magic after Magic had retired. When Magic left he held that record, so while the two were playing magic had more assists. I would say Magic but I have lived in Southern Cali for most of my life so im biased. However, Stockton was a great point guard too. I would measure it by success, Magic won 5 Stockton won 0. That should be enough, Magics' assists were worth more because they contributed to Championships.

Stockton was the better overall passer. Magic was flashier and was more entertaining but they both had great vision. Stockton was an accurate passer and had great timing. Stockton could have been flashy but that was not the system that they ran or his personality.

as far as passing. stockton. his fundementals were A+.
but all around player, magic takes the take. stockton was a slightly better passer, but magic could rebound, play great on the ball D, score from anywhere on the floor and run the game better than anyone.

ok first of all the the better passer is between these two fine players.
similarities
they both are in the top of passing
they both made their teams better and were the true floor general on the their respect teams
differences
with stockton he would pass on a dime in many set offenses and place the ball so perfectly it was magic lol
but with mr magic his game was in a flowing running manner that gave him more opportunities to push the ball so his passing ability wasn't tested, but he did have better court vision .
the final fact that matters is which point guard used his passing ability to make his team better, soo much better that he actual won a championship
that fact alone puts magic as a better passer

Stockton was a more accurate, fundamental passer. Magic was "Showtime" and flashy. Don't get me wrong, Magic is an all-round better player, but in reference to the attribute of passing, Stockton was better

you do know magic's career was cut short because of aids? at least 5 years. magic was ahead of stockton by a large margin before he retired and they would have played close to the same years had magic not got aids. so in concensus magic still would have had more assists. but better passer? thats like arguing who is the better dunker mj or dominique wilkins?
