I'm also 8 weeks along - congrats!
And yes it is normal. I don't feel like a nap either. But, I'm always more engerized afterwards. So, try it...it may help you get things done. This is how I felt the first time two. I found that it goes away about week 17, so we're half way through!
Also, see if you can't do one thing at a time. Just tell yourself 'A load of laundry" instead of laundry, floors, and kitchen. You just can't do it all right now.
Hope this helps you, and it does get easier!

I know the feeling I am 12 weeks tomorrow and still tired as hell. They say it is the extra hormones(mainly pregesterone) that cause this. It does start getting a little better by 10 weeks. Everyday I get home at 5:30 and lay on the couch for almost the whole night.
As far as coffee my doctor said you can have 3 cups a day. I am paranoid and have a cup of lite coffee daily which is hlaf decalf..to me decalf tastes like crap..lol. But I can't getthrough the afternoon without a diet coke, which has alot less caffine than coffee.

It is SOOOO normal! I drink my morning cup of coffee everday. I have done some reading and found that the range is no more than 3-5 cups of coffee or caffeinated beverage a day. If the coffee helps, I say go for it. As far as being tired....again, very normal. Neglect the things that can wait...you and the baby deserve the rest! Good luck!

what you are feeling is very normal...also one cup of coffee won't hurt anything. excessive caffeine is bad but moderation is just fine. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Please dont drink coffee, it isnt safe for your baby at this early stage of your pregnancy, caffeine can cause miscarriages. You are losing your energy b/c baby is taking your blood, sort of like a leech, lol, funny right? but its very true, baby needs alot of blood right now to grow and that means taking it from you, making you tired and weak, even dizzy.
Iron pills are what OBs might recommend, the problem with that is iron pills makes it difficult to go to the bathroom, and so you might need to drink alot of water or any kind of 100% fruit juices. It happens to alot of women in their pregnancies, so try the iron pills and the fruit juices. I really hope you feel feel, good luck!

the coffy wont hurt just dont go overboard and as for being tired its normal. Your body is going thru so many chanes which take a lot of your bodys energy. also the baby is feeding off of you. the tired and slugest feeling will get some what better but you will have days or weeks that you cant seem to get going

That lazy feeling is very normal. I felt it in all three of my pregnancies. I was told by my ob that I could drink two cups of coffee a day.

Yes, it's normal. Hormones, yadda, yadda, yadda.
My doctor told me that I was allowed one caffienated drink a day. I usually didn't drink it, but it was nice to know I could if I wanted to.
I found that if I got up and moved around, the more I did it the better I felt.
Congrats!!!

If you stopped drinking coffee all together you may want to try filling the emptiness with soemthign else with lkess caffine to ease off of it. But laziness is normal, you're body is growing another human, that enough work for one day! Try a soda in place of your coffee.
