Hopefully, this past election has been a wake up call. Nevertheless, do not expect them to be accomodating to Democrats. At least not right away.

Bush is too stubborn to change but his power is all but gone. So he is just a lame duck for the next 2 years. After that the Repubs will have to move more toward the center if they want to win elections. The far out right wingers are no longer able to call the shots.

Let's put it this way, if Bush refuses to accomodate the middle, then the reuplicans will lose in 08, end of story.

Bush was never true to the right. His only desires were to consolidate power in the hands of a small, well-born elite and bankrupt the country to ensure that the power structure could never be changed after he was done.

Is that right-wing? Is that conservative?

Except his push for tax cuts and the war, when has President Bush ever been on the "right?" He's strictly down the middle.
