Vishnu is one of the gods of the hindu relgion. someone will give a more detailed wikipedia answer, i'm sure, but Vishnu is the god with extra arms on his sides and he has blue skin in a lot of paintings. i dont think he's got a specific purpose like "god of war" or whatever. he's a general deity.
the elephant headed one is ganesh. and i think the destroyer is shiva (which ultimately brings new life after destruction).
