Word has several auto text but the most widely used are the Auto Text and Spell-Check-As-You-Go with Auto Correct.

In the Auto Text, you can set the program to replace certain keystrokes with complete words, or whole phrases.
As an example, you type Nov and the program will prompt you with not only the month, but also the date and year; just hit enter at this point and the program fills in the date.

With Spell Check as you go, and Auto Correct, words you mispell a lot can be set to autocorrect without going back. The most common mistakes such as "teh" instead of "the" are corrected for you as you continue on to other words.
