In a secular marriage the only purpose of marriage is a legal contract which only comes into force when you divorce.
Isn't it pointless to base a marriage on that unless your intended spouse is a lot richer than you and you plan to relieve them of some of their wealth?

Snackdad, In England prenups are useless because they are not binding and the cost of lawyers is a good reason for both parties not to acquire the need.

To the many ladies who say it is to show you love someone and are sure you want to stay with them, my point is that if you really do then you don't need a legal contract to show it.

About marrying for the children, your name on their birth certificate gives them all the security marriage can and more. And you can leave your money to them married or not.

Awe that's sad. It depends not all marriages end in divorce. People just forget to work hard in their marriages anymore. I think that's sad and it shouldn't matter how much money you don't or do have. But I will tell you this people who are in the same level of social economic status have a better chance of staying together according to statistics but it makes perfect sense.
Maybe you shouldnt be so sour keep looking for the person your willing to work hard for to keep. I feel almost anything can be worked out, I said almost. But work harder in your relationship and dont be so quick to jump the gun, then maybe you wouldnt be sour about marriage.

obviously your not married or atleast not anymore. You have a horrible view of marriage and that is sad. Marriage is not about the piece of paper it is about the love between two people and have them commit their lives to each other. i hope that you change your view on marriage or you'll be a very lonely guy.

What do you think a prenup is for?
Child support, palamony, there are many ways to separate a rich person from their money, but if they are smart they have even smarter lawyers to help them keep it.

You get married because you love this person, and you want to build a life together have kids, or not, and spend your life together, unfortunately in today's world it does not always workout that way, which is very sad!

Marriage isn't pointless. Let me guess, you're not married, nor rich, you must have been dumped recently for someone who was wealthy.

No it is not. You marry because you want to be with that other person and make them yours, let everyone know you are a couple and have children to leave/inherit all your money .

The only reason to get married is to have children. Always get a pre-nup.
