In the last 4 months there have been 6 murders in less than a mile of were i live,a shooting ,stabbing ,throat slashing ,hit and run and a man beaten to death by a gang of teenagers walking home with his wife from the pub to name some...and I live in what used to be classed as a good area????so when you ask is our government tough on crime my answer would have to be No! I really fear for my children's future and would leave the UK without a second thought had i the money to do so.It makes me so sad that this country is ruled by people who are scared of doing the right thing because it might offend someone or infringe on human rights. Its time to put the law abiding honest hardworking overtaxed population first -please please please stop all this madness now !

Most definitely all talk and no action. The government really need to rethink on this one, particularly now ASBOs are gaining street cred among those who are idiotic enough to believe they're cool.
My local council are in denial over bad behaviour as I'm sure they think it would taint their ideals of a Utopian community if they actually admitted it was going on. Heads are well and truly stuffed up arses! The police either can't or won't do anything about less serious crime, but the trouble is the goal posts keep moving on what is considered serious crime! If I thought I could get away with vigilante behaviour, then I would don my cape and mask and carry a big stick; sadly not to be.

Cracking down on anti social behaviour is just another excuse for tony blairs government to spy on us.Its an excuse for blair to gain votes with his high profile pantomime of community support vans patrolling the streets staffed with the dummies from the bottom classes from school.A pantomime that we pay for with our taxes.Yet your lucky if a real policeman will attend you home if you have been burgled. The same sort of spin was applied when the government made the agreement with the frogs to close the sangatte centre ,cleverly used by the french to house immigrants at the mouth of the channel tunnel. So the sangatte centre was shut becasue blair agreed to take a bigger share of asylum seekers than the amount already fleeing sangatte to come to england.
Theres no crackdown on antisocial behaviour , just expensive vans and useless community support officers introduced as a knee jerk reaction to the electorates concern

I live near to Heathrow and anti social behaviour is out of control. Those that do offend laugh when they get caught because the sentencing is too soft. The main town centre is a no go area at night if you are walking or using public transport (due to gangs of Somalians hanging round the area where there are temporary hostels), every week there are stories in the local press telling of muggings, assaults and attacks on buses in the area and there have been 3 murders over the past 3 weeks. I think that tells me it's way out of control x

Well, I live opposite a Wykes DIY store, sounds good enough thus far eh ... Well, every night the place is frequented by a group of car-revving, wheel-spinning, donut attempting idiots in their little (or not dependent how daft they have been with the bank manager) soup'd up cars. There have been loads of complaints from many of us and still the little annoyances spread their "joy" every evening ... Can see that ending in tears at some point.
On top of that, slightly further down the road is a pay-phone .... Suffice to say I do not wish to come back in my next life as one of those ! I can honestly say that on average nearly every other night some little idiot will attempt to rob the phone-box of its hard-earned cash.
So .... in short .... I see things only worse than they were, not better.
As for taking action, you must be joking, they are effectively criminals, so therefore have more rights than us. A pointless excersize bar complaining to the authorities.

All talk, no action, definetely. Our section became into somewhat residential, till asda started advertising alcohol, 24hrs. The gangs bypass our residing house to get there, and combat, shout, swear, and have even vandalised neighbours autos, under the impact of alcohol and disorderly, this is going on in the early hours of the morning. The police say, they could do not something approximately it!!! that's a bloody shame, this united states, is a bloody shame, thugs do what the hell they like, whilst they like, ask every physique!!!!

What do you mean by antisocial behavior? Violent crime is up in my town. I think the cops are busy playing with their new homeland security toys that came in the mail.
Also, fewer officers on the street are able to take care of conflicts with good old fashioned talk and people skills. They'd rather tase you than have to break their stride on the way to Dunkin' Donuts. That's the way they train 'em nowadays.

What is "anti-social" behavior? Speaking out against the government? That's a right embedded in our constitution, and is not illegal. Burning a US flag? Again, not illegal (though apparently some people want it to be). Racism? There are laws governing race as a factor in employment, housing, etc. but holding the *opinions* of racism, though despicable, isn't illegal either.
So I guess it depends on what you call "anti-social." And for most of what you would consider anti-social, the government has no business doing any cracking down. Here's something you need to learn to accept as a member of a free society: you have to let people have their own views and opinions and speak them, even if they disgust you. You are, of course, free to speak out against them, but you're NOT free to outlaw their opinions or many of their actions, as long as those actions don't hurt anyone else. That's what a free society is all about.

The Blair government has talked a good talk on all its policies. The problem is action to back it up. We have a government of whimps. They are frightened of their own shadows. Anti-social order give them the birch or bring back the stocks.
