The Beatles were a significant influence on the development of music. Today's music culture would be very different without the influence of the Beatles back in the 60's. I suspect that the Beatles would be as popular today, and lead to a similar revolution in the music culture, had they not existed in the 60's. However, I'm talking hypothetically if they had been born 40 years later. Not the affect their current music today would have on today's music generation.

If the Beatles didn't release their albums in the 60s then we wouldn't have the same music as we have today, the amount of people and musicians who have been inspired by the beatles and who have been inspired by the people who have been inspired by the Beatles is phenomenal. The Beatles changed a generation and were imparative and symbolic in the youth movement in the United States in the 1960s. Also, the topics that made them so revolutionary then seem tame by todays standards (in part thanks to them), so all things being equal they wouldn't be as popular. However, I think our society is in desperate need of another influential voice in music, I'm sick of all of this American Idol manufactured BS.

If they dropped in on the world looking and playing like they did back then, I doubt it. But surely they would have some of the current styles in dress and look, as well as music. They were real musicians and added so much to the world of Pop music.
Have you ever heard their songs played by an orchestra? Strawberry Fields Forever had a magnificient sound! as did the others on the program I heard. The Beatles, in whatever era they appeared, would be stars.

If they released the same album they did back then in todays world..It would not work. Remember though, if not for people like the Beatles, we would not have the music we do today.

no

when they hit the scene, they were so much more fresh, so much more innovative, that EVERYONE imitated them.

today, they would be surrounded by the cacophony of the MTV noise, and it would be hard to break thru.

An enlightening exercise is to go back and watch the Ed Sullivan broadcasts with them on it (it's out on DVD). Compared to the rest of the "talent" on the show, they were beethoven, bach, elvis, sinatra, etc all rolled into one.

they were bigger than elvis. they made a bigger splash than disco. They changed the way we listen to music. They were more radical than Nirvana, or Run DMC, Michael Jackson, or any other groundbreaking band.

If they came along now, where would music be?

That's hard to answer because they were so influential that their music had sort of a domino effect on other musicians and maybe music today would be different if they hadn't existed in the sixties. But I really doubt people would like their music if it came out new today. At least their early music- songs like I want to hold your hand- it's too innocent

Would todays music be the same if the Beetles weren't around? It may be popular because no 1 would have ever heard music like that before.
