i'm with Alan88, ipods are overated and break far too easily, but they look good so people buy them despite the better/cheaper alternatives.

Ahh the joys of being a fashion victim.

Well, here is the deal, I work for Argos and it will cost you £130 for a black 4gb Nano. It will cost you £55 for a 1gb Shuffle, do the math. You are getting much more for your money with the nano, and I’m not just talking about memory.

With a Nano, you have a screen and you can clearly see what song is playing which is handy if your listening to an album for the first time or you have your music on shuffle and you don’t recognise the artist. Also, you can create playlists and choose what music you listen to, for example you may have 200 tracks and don’t want to listen to them all on shuffle so you can create a playlist called “on the go” which allows you to pick your music there and then on the ipod from all your music. That means you can listen to a selected 10 tracks (or as many as you like) on shuffle or repeat.

The ipod shuffle is very small and costs less but you are not getting your moneys worth when you compare it to a Philips 1gb mp3 that is on sale for £30. It is obvious that with the shuffle you are paying for the brand and the clip. I hate the clip idea, it means that everyone can see your mp3 player and knows that you have a good brand product, doesn’t that mean you are a target for muggers who can run up to you and grab your shuffle off of your clothes?

I personally have an ipod mini and my little sister has an older version shuffle and we both prefer mine, a shuffle is a good idea for a young child (12ish) who is looking for a first ipod but I think for older teenagers and up, a nano is best because you have the freedom of more music and more control over your music.

Hope this helped.

I have an iPod Mini and I WISH I'd just gone the whole hog and got myself a proper grown up iPod so my advice to you would be to do the same.
