It's not particularly the concept of the show or, indeed, its presenter that makes me cringe - both are quite good, as it goes. It is more the contestants. I don't really care about their little photos of Johnny in his school concert or the cats climbing the curtains or the picture of his mother's 38 brothers and sisters with all their spouses, kids and grandkids. I don't want to know what they will do with the money if they win it. None of them can sing/dance/be a comedian, so DON'T TRY.
There is no skill in opening the boxes; it is the luck of the draw. No one can 'get a feeling' from a cardboard box which is totally identical to 21 other cardboard boxes. Chanting, 'Blue! Blue! Blue!' at a box does not make it miraculously turn into a low number box. How do we know that once they have made their deal part way through they really would have chosen the boxes in that order because it is RANDOM, that is the point of it.
Why did Noel have those little heiroglyphic things on his hand in the last series? Maybe he was sending messages in code to people that whatever the person walks away with, he will be paid ten times as much.
Why did he say on Jonathon Ross that three people had already won and that the tv company were covering it up to save ratings? Surely it would boost ratings as people like to see a winner.
Oh, what do I care anyway?
Whilst we're on the subject of gameshows, who like me thinks that the Weakest Link would be all the better for a trap door being underneath each contestant and then the one that gets voted off with the most stupid answer falls down a chute into a crocodile pit below? That would spice it up. Similarly, with Millionaire. There should be a fourth alternative - ask the audience, phone a friend, 50/50 or Russian roulette?

I like the concept of the show and used to watch, but I too now hate it. Yes it has gone all 'matey' and fake, with all that 'put on sincerity' - a guy opening a box saying 'Josie, your such a nice caring person, I hope this one is blue for you, you deserve it' - aaaagh!!! Just open the box with a smile and keep your trap shut!
Last time I watched I think the contestant was after Noels job - getting out of her chair, wandering around talking to the audience with Noel chuckling like an idiot. And Noel talking to the 'Banker' - 'he's going to make you a good offer because he respects the way you play the game' - double aaaaagh!!
All that whooping and hollerin' now from the audience too - it has gone all American and we Brits hate that format. Uuuuugh, reach for the remote. Or a brick.

What fakeness? It was interesting at first, but for me almost all game shows get old quick, but I do not hate it, just lost interest. That game is pure luck though, but I do not see how it is fake.
The only shows that I used to watch consistantly was "Who wants to be a millionnaire?" because the questons were always different, and still watch "The Price is Right" once in a while.

i hate it. i don't understand the rules of the game whatsoever as it is ridiculously complicated and as i'm totally baffled. and its annoying having to wait for a few seconds for something to happen and when it does, the atmosphere becomes quiet again. its so boring most of the time, its like watching paint dry. and all that pandering and sucking up to people reeks. and correct me if i'm wrong- but is the audience on that show mainly made up of students? because i'm a student and i'd never watch it again. i watched deal or no deal once, felt the format of the show should've been easier to grasp, which it wasn't, and i have never watched it since.

If I was on the show I would just say "Pick each box from 1 - 20 in that order"

As a rule of thumb, if it has anything yo do with Noel Edmonds it will be that stuff that comes out of your bottom. So I can't hate what I have never seen.

the thing about this show is its a "who wants to be a millionaire" for idiots. Because there are no questions and there is no chance of leaving with nothing it attracts all sorts with no brains.
also.. i heard somewhere that someone's already won the jackpot but they are holding back airing it... what a crap show

The show is greedy. I mean if there's $100000 offered to you, never blow it away. Only a fool would reject the offer in the hopes of winning the million because the odds are slim.

i agree, noel edmunds should be castrated to prevent offspring, unless its happened already(?). although i do love it when one of those smug gits has a good round and triumphantly proclaims no deal to 10 grand then takes out all the high numbers in the next!
