My brother in law brought his son into the shower with him when he was a baby and he got so scared his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he was upset for a long time, very hard to comfort. What was the youngest anyone has brought their baby in the shower with them?

Your baby will tell you! My almost four-year old still does not like the shower or even having water poured over her head, but my six month old seems to be okay with water coming down over her face. I haven't tried her in the shower simply because it's so much easier for me to give her a bath with her older sister now that she's sitting up. Another factor for not showering with babies is how slippery they get when wet. Although a good friend of mine has showered with her two children since they were week old babies (there's that "it depends on the child component". I would be concerned about fluctuating water temperatures in the shower. You never know when something might happen to make the water run cold (or even worse, hot) all of a sudden. With a bath you can be certain of the temperature by filling the tub and then turning off the tap. If you do decide to bath with a baby, I know that several companies make slings for use in water. www.kangarookorner.com has a couple of good ones including the solarveil sling which works double duty on summer outings.

3 weeks old. You have to hold them close and don't let the water spray directly on them. Sometimes this young may have been better b/c they didn't know to be scared and by the time they were old enough to be scared they liked it/were used to it.
I think taking your kids into the bath/shower/bed with you helps develop a closer bond with them and long as it doesn't last past 3 or 4 years old. Then it's just gross.

I took my daughter in the shower with me once at the age of 7 months and she was fine, I didn't keep her in there for very long and I kept the water pointed lower than usual to that it didn't hit her directly and I also kept the water pressure down too, I think that it's really situational to your baby, some kids love it and some don't.

My middle child used to go in the shower with me when she was maybe 3 mos. I used a mesh shower sling. Sometimes it was the best way to calm her down. Make sure the water temperature is OK. If you don't have a mesh sling, put a hand towel over your arm (kind of like a waiter) to help hold the baby securely.

The falling water probably startled and scared him. My daughter doesn't like water poured over her eyes/head. My son didn't mind though, he only a few months when we would bath him in the shower. Be careful though because babies are slippery when wet.

I had mine in the shower with me from the beginning. After her cord fell off of course. It was faster and more convenient for me. She never minded the water in her face or on her head. It made it easier to wash her hair as she got older. Swimming lessons were easier too because she was not afraid to get her face wet.

I was always scared as heck to because they're such slippery, squirmy little buggers. I waited until my older daughter was about 3 and could stand with my on non-slip pads. I had a tough enough time in the newborn bath-no need to fall down naked holding one:)!

I used to take my children in the shower with me when they were toddlers. I had a large shower with seats at both ends. To me it made more sense than leaving them unattended while I showered.

I began to shower my son from the time his cord fell off. He loved it and has no problem showering with no assistance at two.
