Nuva ring is prescription. OTC contraceptives include, spermicidal jelly and condoms. Go to the doctor if you want something more reliable.

I was going to start the nuva ring like 2 years ago but the dr. said it was great b/c she uses it and in some guys, they feel it so the sensation is good but she said the bad thing is that it causes yeast infections often...

There are also spermicidal foams and gels for women. None of these are a STD preventative nor is a vasectomy...

I only say that because I was at a party recently and some man with a Master's in Counseling was saying how surprised he was that men were not aware that a vasectomy stopped the spread of Stds...trust me we got that cleared up right away...he is WRONG in case you missed that part...

Personally, I like the sponge. They were brought out in the late 80's and were very popular. They were off the market for a little while becuase it was thought that women were leaving them in too long and developing toxic shock syndrome.

They're back now, and I think they are very comfortable and easy to use. You can put them in a long time before intercourse as to not interupt spontaneity.

They are not hard to put in and are easier to take out than a tampon.
