I think they are only a couple of weeks behind some of the people round here

no, they could not.
Only if all humans went extinct there could be chance they develop many more human like traits. They wouldn't develop in an exact human though. The nature of mutations is random, only selection isn't. But it is highly unlikely that selection will ever have the exact same mutations to work upon.
Only if an ecological niche isn't already occupied something else can evolve to fit in there. Humans are certainly not going to tolerate some other species trying to take over.

This is a slight misunderstanding of what evolution is. Evolution is the process by which random genetic mutations are selected for in the very unlikely event that they are benficial. There is no "goal" in evolution, such as a chimpanzee morphing into a human over time. As long as there are random mutations in chimpanzees (and believe me, there are. In fact, your DNA has undergone thousands of random mutations in the time you've been reading this) they will continue to evolve and exhibit new and unique combinations of genes and mutations that may result in new, beneficial traits. The chance of a random series of mutations over time leading to human evolution again (even over millions of years) is practically zero.

They can evolve to become the equal of humans but they will not evolve into "humans". A creature cannot evolve into another pre-existing creature. We would need to call them Chimans or something.

It could even be that billions of years from now there could be a point where humans and chimps become so close that they could interbreed and make a new hybrid species..assuming human evolution slows to allow chimps to catch up or weird random chance accelerating chimp evolution

Yes, evolution continues. I doubt chimps will ever acquire "human form", as that implies evolution is goal oriented, which it is not. They may, however, eventually evolve into a sentient species.

Yes, evolution is a continual process but that doesn't mean that chimps have the goal of becoming human.

No we would have destroyed their habitat well before then and the only place for them to live would be monkey world in Devon

Evolution takes a long time

Yes.

And humans can evolve as well.

Politicians can't, but the rest of us can.

That's exactly the question evolutionists can't answer
