My engine light comes on and stays. the mechanic says that is where the evap leak is coming from

its very seldom that you hear about a charcoal canister going bad,but if you got 1 bad,i would say,go to the junk yard and pick up 1.they dont cost that much.also buy a new filter for it,it dont cost too much.i just replaced a filter in my canister,and its not hard.all you do is turn it upside down and there it is.sometimes if you got a full tank of gas,it will smell like gas.

your evaporitave emmision system vents raw hyrdo-carbons (raw fuel vapors) into the carbon canister and is usually good for the life of the car unless it becomes saturated with liquid fuel. If the canister is cracked or broken it must be changed. The evap emis. system must be aple to hold a vacuume and even a loose gas cap can cause the check-engine lite to come on. this system is monatored by the on-board computer. If it must be replaced call around, I think they approx. 100. to 200.dollars but
they all go by application.

it could also just be your check engine light sensor, but if it actually is the charcoal cannister leak then no
