Right as a massive Chelsea but also observer of football all aroun the world, Michael Essien is one of the best players in his position.

In his first season at Chelsea people were laughing at us over the £24.4m fee that we payed for him, bearing in mind the French league is nowhere near the quality of the Premiership in terms of pace, skill, technical abilty and entertainment.

In his first season, by Essien own standards he did not set any fireworks off, but that was mainly down to him having to get use to the pace of the Premiership, in French football it's slow as hell, In Premiership football, your lucky to get more than 3 touches at a time in midfield, where as in France you have time to look around and decide where to go, the skill id better in our game than the French.

This season, along with Didier Drogba, also another French import, Essien has being one of the most consitant performancers, now he is tackling back, showing better quality with the ball, being more of a team player, he has got used to the pace of the premiership, showing better composure, getting in the box, scoring goals, for me he has the complete game.

COME ON CHELSEA COME ON CHELSEA

although Michael Essien is a good footballer, there are many more players in football that have more natural ability than him. To name a few Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Riquelme, Joaquin, Ronaldinho. Maybe he will have a chance in year's to come but not at this specific moment in time.

No because him and Drogba are cheating diving little thugs with no idea of the concept of fair play. Their behavoir in the World Cup was absolutely disgraceful.

I believe that a victory for Essien is a victory for the cheats.

Not even nearly and in fact he wont even get the best player in England award. He is a hardworking midfielder with a good engine but little else. He is not in the same class as others who will be on the potential winners list.

defo not he may be a good player but far from the worlds best since moving to chelski he has been a shadow of himself and the one side of his game which is showing most is his dirty side now this has allways been a part of his game but never as bad as this maybe its the frustration of playing at a club like chelsea but never the less thats not how the worlds best footballers play so no i dont think so why do you

Very Good player, the kind other players appreciate, but unfortunatley its the kind that perform stepovers and tricks and score goals that get the headlines. But NO to Drogba. While you cannot fault his work rate, they guy's touch is poor, but i guess that's why his performances are even more extraordinary.

He's a high class performer but not the kind of player that people pay their money to go & see, so that will count against him.
