My 8 year old some is a video game master. He has an xbox, but is asking for a 360 for Christmas. I don't want to spend that kind of money if it's not going to be much more than what he already has. Aren't the games pretty much the same? I also heard that most games for the 360 are for teens and adults.

yes, it's worth it to buy the xbox360.
360 can play xbox games, but make sure that his current games that he still plays are playable on the 360.

here's a list:

* also note that you'll have to get the premium version or the hard drive for backwards compatibility

saying that the xbox360 is for teens and adults is only partially true. it is more for older kids but so is the xbox.

if you don't know this already xbox and xbox360 have a rating control system that is similar to the v-chip inside a tv.

but the best way to control content you child plays is through semi-active monitoring.

i personally belive that the xbox360 is a major improvement over anything that the xbox had, despite some hiccups with earlier models

if you have the money to get it, go for it.

Yes, an Xbox 360 would be a good present. He can still play his old Xbox games on it, and he can get the new ones. The games are not the same, the graphics are much better, and the games are not just for adults. I would know.

if it's for an 8 year old, dont. you should probably wait a year or two for the price to go down if you decide to. and also, the games are around 60 dollars each. so just wait a bit for it to be a bit cheaper, that's what i'm doing.
