I don't have a license so therefore I do not drive. However, I have a car in my name that my now ex-boyfriend drives. He pays the car note/insurance. We had an arguement and now he is refusing to take my 1 year old daughter to day care. He's also refusing to even pick her up in the afternoon at least. If I take/pick her up myself, that means I have to walk to and from her daycare everyday. It takes 15-20 mins for me to walk to her daycare, not to mention she's been sick with a cold and the weather is rainy and i'm pretty sure we'll have snow someday. Anyway, I am livid at my ex's decision. He should not take this out on her. Even if I get a license, I cannot afford to pay the car note/insurance. I have good credit and don't want to ruin it. What are my options here? Can I talk to some authority figure about this? It's not fair to my young daughter and I'm willing to take some kind of action on this. i just don't know what I should do. Any suggestions?

get a friend with a license, take possession of the vehicle, and sell it. Sever the relationship with the ex as much as possible.

The only thing the cops would say is to report it stolen, where it is in your name. This is a hard one cuz where you can't afford the note and insurance your stuck in a hard place. If he's not going to help you out why should you help him out, buy having the car in your name. I would threaten him with that, if your not going to help then I will take the car out of my name and be done with you. Get your license and get a beat box until you can afford a good car.

First of all take control of your vehicle. Get rid of the boyfriend he sounds like a real jerk!!! If you can't afford the car put it up for sale. Learn how to drive and get one that you can afford!! Because if he is being this way now what is to prevent him from wrecking it and doing major damage to someone or their property... then they will come looking for you because the car is in your name.
One other thing...I don't know about where you are but in a lot of places you can't report it stolen if you gave him permission to drive it.

Sounds like you made a bad boyfriend choice. I don't know haw you have the car in your name with no driver's license since most states require that now. Maybe yours doesn't. But if the child is not his, then you don't have much to work with, just being boy-girl friends. You may have to make arrangements with a neighbor for transportation of your child in return for buying them gas weekly to get her to and from daycare

If the car is in your name you can repossess the vehicle. But if you can't pay for it then it will ruin your credit. If he refuses to help then tell him you want the car out of your name. But legally all you can do is take the car from him, you can't make him give you rides.

First you need to take that car out of your name. He can ruin your credit, he can stop paying on it, and guess what you oe that bill anyway. You have to get all that stuff out of your name. And as far as him giving you a ride, he sounds like a jerk. Take the car away from him.

Is this ex your child's father? Does he otherwise have visitation? Have you gone to court to secure visitation/custody/child support? This is something to consider outside of the transportation issue.
