I'm looking to purchase a new acoustic/electric guitar. I guess you could say I'm still a beginner, but slowly advancing. I'm getting lost in the different body sizes/styles. Can anyone explain to me the difference/pros/cons to and auditorium, concert and/or dreadnought guitar?
Thanks!!!

Yes.

Auditorium and concert acoustics are also called Jumbo. These are quite large and tend to be very loud. These are suited for, as you might guess, orchestra/band, concert, or outside use. See http://miragegworks.com/cstory.html

Dreadnought guitars refer to a design first introduced by CF Martin many moons ago. The bodies have a very specific shape, and measure (almost universally) 20" long x 15" wide (at the widest part) and 4 3/4" deep (at the deepest part). Virtually all manufacturers build a dreadnought model that is based on the original Martin dreadnought. Since they are among the most popular types, they are also the most refined so you'll find that a dreadnought provides the best value for the buck. Another design, often called the "Triple o" is just a bit smaller and more rounded than a dreadnought. These are gaining in popularity because of their great sound when amplified and they are easier to handle because of their smaller size. To look at one, go to http://miragegworks.com/fstory.html

Different body styles will give you different sounds. The best thing to do is spend and hour or two at Guitar Center/whatever music store is near you and check out a bunch of guitars. Try them all, compare the inexpensive with the expensive. Ovations have a round back, they sound different and feel different when playing sitting. Don't worry about what name is on the headstock - get what you like, what sounds good to you, and you like how it plays.

If you see someone else at the store, ask them what they think. I am always more than happy to help people buying guitars. Have fun.

All depends. If you want quality, you're going to have to spend some money. I own a Johnson acoustic and a Samick electric. Both suit me well. Just remember, it's not the guitar but the player who makes the guitar player. Since you're a beginner, get a Johnson like I have and just practice practice practice!

no count if it particularly is a custom guitar, the guitar ought to be something you like.. no longer concepts of people you dont understand. i ought to declare get a flying V, you ought to hate a flying V and that's a fabulous style of money to spend on a guitar you do in comparison to (i do no longer purely like the flying V). LP's are created from mahgony with a maple cap, the mahgony makes LP's fairly heavy in comparison with different guitars. however the tone is fairly different. there has been a fabulous style of learn carried out into tone woods for guitars. end could have somethign to do with the wood you chosen to boot.. are you having it painted so as which you would be able to no longer see the wood grain. Alder, basswood, user-friendly maple will do. do you prefer the woods grain to coach via.. then I recommend an outstanding tiger maple. you're able to have it stained any colour and the grain comes out suited. Do a seek for PRS (Paul Reed Smith) guitars and take a glance at a number of his stuff. You play jazz.. so according to risk you're searching for a semi hollow physique, like the Ibanez Artcore sequence.. or a Gibson ES355 the type BB King performs. For the cost of a custom you are able to via 2 or greater wonderful guitars of categories for the quite a few sorts of track you play. i could % greater guitars as adversarial to a custom... Fender Strat with maple neck Ibanez Artcore semi hollow Gibson LP
