The lower portion of your abdomen will get hard between 3-4 months depending on a persons weight. This happens because at this time the uterus gets so large it pushes up over the pubic bone to where you can feel it.

during the first trimester your lower abdomen will be firmer than usual, and then your tummy will develop and later on during delivery and contractions is when it gets hard as a rock! but other than those times...not really hard, your baby lives in a sack of water so it will feel more like a waterbed of a belly!!!
good luck and congratulations!
