There are also different branches of the immune system, innate and adaptive, also known as non-specific and specific immunity respectively.

The innate, non-specific defense system can be compared to the basic principles of defense, i.e. find the person with the ball, and tackle him. There is no specificity, every cell/player does the same thing.

The adaptive/specific arm of the immune system can be paralleled to the designed parts of a defensive play, i.e. every player covers a SPECIFIC person, and has a specific task.

Since your question is not in detail,so this is the only answer that i can give you.

Our body have 3 lines of defense. They are the (1)physical and chemical defense,(2) innate defense and (3) aquired immune system.

(1)physical and chemical defense
-refering to our skins covoring our flesh from the environment. Our body secretes sweat not just to regulate temperature or helps to get rid of excess water, but also helps in protecting us.How?
Well, sweat is salty, low in pH, making the skin become unfavorable to be a place for the pathogens to stay.Mucus in our nose, helps to trap any foreign dust, particles and even microorganisms from invading our respiratory system.
So, physical and chemical defense is the lineman.

2.Innate immune system.
-The phagocytic cells(marcophages, neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils and monocytes) is the second line of defense in our body. They engulf any foreign substances or particles( pathogens) that managed to invade the first line of defense.Innate immune system is best to refer as the quaterback.

3.Aquired immune system.
-3rd line of defense in our body. They are the lymphocytes cells, the T-lymphocytes and the B-lymphocytes.T-lymphocytes is the main 'killer'.B-lymphocytes is the memory cells.Everytime there's an infection occur, the B-lympocytes produced memory cells so that if another infection occurs, our body is well prepared to encounter it.Aquired immune system=running back

Im not a football fan, but im doing my best to help you.Hope so!
