I'm 37 weeks along and lost my mucus plug when I had my pelvic exam yesterday. My doctor told me I am 1 1/2 cm and 50% effaced. I'm defnitely ready to have the baby and unsure how much longer its going to take. Is there anything I can do to speed this along (I've been restriced from sex at this point also)

I lost my mucous plug for 3 days prior to giving birth ( I was 39wks and 4 days) the first time I noticed it...Was dilated to 2cm for a week, And the babies head was fully engaged for 2 weeks before I went into labor (And this was my 3rd pregnancy)....

You could try walking, It helped with my (now) 18 month old. Other than that, I don't know..I will say, Castor Oil did NOTHING for me at all, It didn't even give me poop problems..So I wouldn't suggest using it..

Keep being paitent and he/she will come on his/her own time :-)

sll those details don't really mean anything. Some women with 50% effacement, 1 1/2 cm and no plug would go in 2 hours some would go in 4 weeks. Each woman is different. Heavy duty cleaning and nipple stimulation should get things going. Don't rush mother nature. Even though you are 37 weeks along, something about your baby may not be ready yet and he may need the next couple of weeks to prepare. You could do the same. good Luck

at 37 weeks, you're barely full-term, you're probably uncomfortable and tired of getting up to pee every 3 minutes, but try to enjoy your last quiet moments.
If your ready to pop this kid out, try going for walks, A LOT of walks, let gravity help. The baby won't come until its ready or your labor is induced, but after the agony of labor, and they put your little goop covered bundle on your chest, be prepared to feel love like you've never felt before
Congrats in advance on the arrival of the new love of your life, may your child be blessed with good health and a soft cry

You can try walking a lot it sometimes helps but the Baby will come when it is ready to do so. the only thing you can do is be induced. But it is a drastic measure if all is well for the baby. Congratulations and good luck with the little one

You should be asking your doctor this question. As for the restriction from sex, I would assume that you understand this is for the childs safety.

If you are 37 weeks, you only have 3 to go. Let nature take its course.

who is aware of. You cross into hard work whilst your frame is competent. It does sound such as you began to lose a few of your mucus plug. When I used to be 36 weeks I used to be one hundred% effaced and one million cm dialted and beginning wasting my mucus plug. I had my cervix scraped at 38 and 39 weeks. Went into hard work at 39 weeks. Good good fortune!

Don't do anything too crazy. Walk around, clean the house, stuff like that is pretty much all you can do. Since you lost your plug, it could happen today or next week but it will happen soon. Good luck!

I have been told by some that evening primrose oil may actually help...not soo sure if its true or not...but i guess its worth a try....you can take it by mouth or you can rub the oil on you cervix or even on your skin...it has something in it that your body actually releases when preparing for labor...starts with a P...but i forget...if you search it you will find some info on it...i would give you a site but there are many...Good Luck!

I know you are ready to have the baby out but it staying in there a little while longer is not such a bad thing. The baby will come out when it is ready. Good Luck!
