You need to read up on ASperger's. This is not just a simple case of boredom. He needs counseling and is probably qualified to receive "special needs" help.

What does the counselor at his school say?

Asperger Syndrome; The most distinguishing symptom of AS is a child’s obsessive interest in a single object or topic to the exclusion of any other. Children with AS want to know everything about their topic of interest and their conversations with others will be about little else. Their expertise, high level of vocabulary, and formal speech patterns make them seem like little professors. Other characteristics of AS include repetitive routines or rituals; peculiarities in speech and language; socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior and the inability to interact successfully with peers; problems with non-verbal communication; and clumsy and uncoordinated motor movements.
This is an interesting condition. From what I quickly read to learn something, the child is very smart. Seems there more Social Problems than Intellectual. It says they seem to focus on one thing, wanting to learn all they can. This will require a lot of interaction on anyone's part to work with this child. It also means you have to learn all you can about an interest of his to take him to the limit of knowledge he seeks.
Example; If, he becomes interested in Electronics, guess what you going to need to do? ;-)
If, I understand what I read; I did want to clarify what happens in school. Schools have to teach a variety of subjects in small bite size snacks. This bores your son. He needs a more focused subject that is taught in large chunks as from what I read, he focus on one interest at a time. Some small things can be taught during this interaction, but, the bulk needs to focus on his interests or he become bored. I hope this helps.
